Spend the day exploring with our guide for the day, Linda Koenig. Visit St. Paul's UCC Church in Waterloo, IL for a look at their beautiful sanctuary and windows, and to view an unusual weathervane atop the steeple. Visit the new Monroe County Museum, and the historic Bellefontaine home and property outside Waterloo. Lots of great artifacts and stories here. For lunch we will enjoy a delicious German meal of schweinschnitzel, soup/salad bar, spatzle, applesauce, beverage and apple dumpling at the Dreamland Palace in Foster Pond, IL. This dining experience is a real crowd-pleaser. In the afternoon we will take a drive through Old and New Valmeyer on our way to the quaint German town of Maeystown. This National Historic register town, nestled among three creeks, sports a restored old mill, historic bridge, St. John's Church, Corner George Inn and much more. We'll enjoy being shown around by Dave Braswell, the town's major proprietor and historian. On the way home, we'll drive by the site where National Archives are stored in caves.
